This individual will work independently on complex projects, upholding high editorial standards. The position emphasizes delivery excellence, ensuring all outputs are accurate, consistent, and compliant with client and regulatory expectations. Collaboration with the Editorial Services team and wider business is crucial for efficient workflows and high-quality outputs, while continuously building expertise across therapy areas and accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level editing and quality control across a wide range of medical communications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, and alignment with client briefs, regulatory standards, and style guidelines
  • Edit and review a broad mix of deliverables, including: Technical publications (manuscripts, posters, abstracts, article proofs), Congress and meeting materials (slide decks, advisory board materials, reports, newsletters), Educational and training content (learning modules, quizzes, e-learning), Digital and media outputs (websites, videos, animations, interactive content), Promotional and commercial materials (detail aids, adverts, flyers, presentations), Business development materials (pitches, proposals, credentials)
  • Partner with Creative, Digital, Scientific, and Account teams to align on deliverable requirements and resolve quality issues (style, layout, references, scientific consistency)
  • Oversee reference management standards, including EndNote libraries and citation integrity
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of client brands, therapy areas, and preferences
  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and governance of client style guides
  • Partner closely with Client Services and Scientific teams to advise on editorial best practice, scope, and delivery approaches
  • Build trusted relationships with account teams, supporting both client satisfaction and long-term growth
  • Maintain oversight of editorial delivery workflows to support predictable timelines, efficient handoffs, and consistent ways of working
  • Identify opportunities to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and enhance consistency across client accounts
  • Support operational quality systems (e.g., checklists, handover standards, process audits) to ensure editorial steps are applied consistently across accounts
  • Work collaboratively with editorial and business leads to forecast resourcing needs
  • Embed appropriate editorial review steps into project scopes and timelines from the outset
  • Proactively identify delivery risks (timing, resourcing, dependencies) and work with leads to agree mitigations and clear next steps
  • Share knowledge, provide guidance, and contribute to the development of editorial capability across the business
  • Collaborate closely with editorial leadership and senior stakeholders to uphold standards and drive continuous improvement
  • Build strong, respectful working relationships across Client Services, Scientific, Creative, and Digital teams
  • Act as a visible subject-matter expert for editorial best practice, supporting escalation and decision-making when needed
  • Step in for the Managing Editor when needed, ensuring continuity of team output and adherence to standards
  • Support and motivate editors across time zones, fostering effective collaboration and consistent standards
  • Support the development of editors through coaching, constructive feedback, and sharing best practice
  • Support freelance editor onboarding and briefing to ensure they are aligned to project requirements and editorial standards
  • Take accountability for personal deliverables and, as needed, coordinate contributions from other editors (in-house and freelance)
  • Deliver work within agreed timelines, scopes, and budgets
  • Maintain awareness of commercial considerations, including utilization and efficiency
  • Support accurate and timely completion of timesheets and project tracking as required
