About The Position

As a Principal Scientist within the Innovation Integrity team of our Care Chemicals business unit, you will drive breakthrough solutions in oilfield production chemistry from our The Woodlands, TX facility. Serving as the technical expert for integrity management (IM) solutions, you'll lead high-impact R&D projects from concept to commercialization in the areas of corrosion and H2S management, develop patentable technologies, and provide critical technical support to customers and internal stakeholders worldwide. Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience in R&D for oilfield production chemicals, OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating a proven track record of success
  • Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and analyze complex experiments independently, including the use of high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) corrosion testing equipment such as rotating cage autoclaves and HPHT rotating cylinder electrode, as well as testing of H2S scavengers
  • Patent experience including reading, writing, defending patents, and developing IP strategies
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to interact across all organizational levels
  • Track record of customer interaction, sales skills, and value-based selling
  • Proven ability to prepare technical manuscripts for publication and present at industry conferences

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development of integrity management projects, collaborating with global research centers and cross-functional teams
  • Design, formulate, and conduct application testing of integrity management products to verify performance and meet customer requirements
  • Manage technical service requests independently, from customer engagement through experimentation, analysis, and reporting
  • Develop and strengthen Clariant's intellectual property portfolio by preparing patent applications and creating patentable technologies
  • Serve as the global technical expert for integrity management innovation, providing support to sales, marketing, and field operations
  • Develop and enhance laboratory test methodologies and standard operating procedures based on best practices and continuous improvement
  • Monitor competitive landscape including literature, patents, and industry developments in integrity management
  • Engage with customers, suppliers, joint industry projects, and present technical findings at conferences
  • Provide field technical support when required to ensure successful product implementation
  • Ensure adherence to highest safety standards and safe laboratory working practices at all times
