About The Position

We are looking for a Principal Relay Protection Engineer for one of our clients to support multiple ongoing projects in the Control & Protection Engineering team in Västerås. In this expert role, you will develop high-quality relay protection solutions for substations in the transmission and distribution grid, perform protection settings and selectivity studies, review technical documentation, and provide support during FAT/SAT and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent
• Significant experience in relay protection design, commissioning, or troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of power system behavior and protection principles
• Familiarity with IED platforms (ABB/Hitachi Energy, Siemens, Schneider)
• Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English (mandatory)
• Valid SSG-Entré certificate
• Ability to work primarily onsite in Västerås (some remote within Sweden possible)

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of SvK (Svenska kraftnät) and Vattenfall standards, processes, and technical requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop relay protection solutions (Hitachi Energy, GE, Siemens)
• Perform protection settings calculations and selectivity studies
• Review drawings, signal lists, and technical documentation
• Support project managers, test leads, and installation teams
• Participate in FAT/SAT and assist with troubleshooting in delivery projects
