A Day in the Life Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Integrated Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised of three key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, and Cardiovascular Diagnostics & Services. This position will be based in Mounds View, MN. The Principal Reimbursement Analyst is a highly impactful role which supports the success of reimbursement and health policy strategies and execution for all Cardiac Rhythm businesses. The Principal Reimbursement Analyst will work with a wide set of internal and external stakeholders to help plan and implement strategies to gain funding and reimbursement for our life-changing therapies. This position will provide critical input into developing global reimbursement strategies and in the planning and designing of studies to ensure payer, governmental, societal and other critical partner/stakeholder requirements are met. Under the direction of the Reimbursement Director and in partnership with other Operating Unit leads, this role will focus on execution of reimbursement strategy and optimization. The Principal Reimbursement Analyst will collaborate with the economic value team and market access colleagues to provide an early analysis of global evidence requirements, articulation of the current reimbursement landscape, and define the strategic path forward for optimal reimbursement at launch and beyond.. Additionally, the Principal Reimbursement Analyst will support the development of economic value strategies and reimbursement plans supporting both new product pipeline and new market access opportunities within the CRM Business units. The Principal Reimbursement Analyst is accountable for informing and educating Cardiac Rhythm leadership, Operating Units, Strategy Teams, and Field Teams such as Regional Economic Managers (REMs) of coding, coverage, and payment strategies and execution. This position is also responsible for understanding and articulating the impact of reimbursement, the healthcare environment and other policy initiatives on both CRM businesses and their products, and our hospital, physician, and payer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of reimbursement or health policy related experience, Or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of reimbursement or health policy related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare, health insurance policies, and payer/provider procedures.
  • Basic understanding of reimbursement systems in major European and Asian countries
  • Proven knowledge and execution of US coverage, coding and payment strategy and tactics.
  • Works independently and demonstrates an ownership in work; acting under little direction towards predetermined long-range goals and objectives.
  • Proficient knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, and/or database applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).
  • Advanced degree in health policy, health services research, economics, or related discipline.
  • Understanding of global dynamic health care environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with key US stakeholders – societies, CMS, private payers, political groups, etc.
  • Ability to maintain proactive relationship with payers, providers, and government agencies
  • Demonstrated use of business and financial measures and the impact on reimbursement issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and educate customers on the impact of reimbursement requirements and pathways and the need to develop practical solutions.
  • Strong project management skills and excellent track record in effective collaboration in the matrix environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills -- written and verbal.
  • Certified professional coder.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements reimbursement strategies and programs to obtain coverage, coding and payment from payer/providers.
  • Provides reimbursement-related advice to product development teams, marketing, sales, regulatory, clinical and business leaders.
  • Ensure appropriate reimbursement, health economics and policy analyses and perspectives are integrated into business plans
  • Identifies payer opportunities and issues and implements programs to resolve/decrease barriers to entry for the company's products or therapies.
  • Works closely with Health Economics and Outcomes Research staff to evaluate the economic impact of the use of therapies/products on payers, including the government.
  • Develops strategic relationships with professional societies, medical associations, advocacy groups, thought leaders to provide leadership and focus in areas of mutual interest including physician reimbursement, treatment guidelines, coding, coverage and payment.
  • May create training and deliver education programs to sales force, physicians, home care agencies, case managers, hospital CFO's, medical directors, billing personnel, and pharmacists in clinics and hospitals.
