The Weight Watchers Product team, fueled by passion for member success, combines talented product managers and designers to craft impactful experiences that enhance members' lives, including intuitive tools on the guest site, an improved member app, and workshop tools for coaches. Their focus is on creating science-backed products and experiences that promote weight loss through behavior change, with empathy and inclusivity at the core. As a Principal Product Designer, Growth, you will play a pivotal role in driving user acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization. You will shape the design direction of critical growth levers, ensuring user experiences are intuitive, engaging, and engineered to impact key business metrics. This is a senior IC role for a designer who thrives in complexity and ambiguity, owns high-impact growth funnels end-to-end, and leads through influence, judgment, and data-informed product thinking. You will act as a strategic partner from hypothesis generation and planning to execution and launch, helping to establish what growth excellence looks like for both the design organization and the wider business.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional product design experience, with a proven track record of leading the design of product experiences with a hypothesis-driven, experimental, and metrics-driven approach to design.
  • Deep expertise in UX/UI design, interaction design, information architecture, and systems thinking.
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, connect design decisions to commercial outcomes), and influence product roadmaps through data-driven insights.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the confidence to influence at the executive level and drive alignment without formal authority.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the design vision for major growth surfaces (Acquisition, Activation, Retention), aligning closely with Product and Engineering leadership to influence product strategy and experimentation roadmaps.
  • Lead early-stage, ambiguous problem spaces by framing opportunities, defining foundational systems, and shaping first iterations of new conversion and monetization experiences.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to executive stakeholders, advocating for best product practices and ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
  • Translate business requirements, user friction points, and funnel data into clear strategy and intuitive, elegant experiences. Deliver high-quality interaction designs, prototypes, and visual systems.
  • Lead the way with rapid experimentation and advanced tools to bring concepts to life, iterating and validating solutions through A/B testing, quantitative data, and user feedback.
  • Partner across EPD, Data Science, and Marketing to ensure design decisions are technically feasible, measurably impactful, and strategically aligned.
  • Partner with Design and Product leadership to establish experimentation frameworks, standards, and documentation that mature the growth design practice.
  • Articulate design decisions and narratives clearly to stakeholders at all levels, creating alignment and driving accountability through the lens of business impact.
  • Mentor and coach designers across all levels, providing guidance on product strategy, craft excellence, and professional growth.
  • Model exceptional design practice and foster a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and high-quality execution.
