Job Purpose The Principal Pricing Strategist serves as the enterprise leader for consumer lending pricing strategy across digital and branch-based channels. This role defines and governs the company’s pricing philosophy, frameworks, and optimization strategies for sub-prime and near-prime portfolios. As the organization’s senior subject matter expert in pricing analytics, this role integrates credit risk, capital strategy, regulatory considerations, competitive positioning, and long-term portfolio economics to drive sustainable, risk-adjusted profitability. The Principal Pricing Strategist partners directly with Executive Leadership, Credit, Finance, Product, and Compliance to shape pricing direction, influence portfolio growth strategy, and ensure regulatory integrity across all markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Finance, or related field; Master’s or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pricing, credit risk, quantitative analytics, portfolio management, or financial strategy within consumer lending, financial services, or fintech.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise pricing frameworks and leading large-scale optimization initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in consumer loan economics, risk-based pricing, capital allocation, and portfolio P&L management.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and statistical modeling techniques; experience with machine learning or optimization algorithms preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of consumer finance regulations, fair lending analytics, and pricing governance requirements.
  • Proven track record influencing executive leadership and driving enterprise-level strategic decisions.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing analytics teams.

  • Exposure to securitization markets, funding strategy, or capital markets interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Pricing Strategy & Governance Define and evolve the enterprise-wide pricing philosophy, governance framework, and approval processes. Establish pricing guardrails, risk-adjusted return thresholds, and capital efficiency targets across products and geographies. Serve as final authority on pricing methodologies, model design standards, and validation protocols. Lead pricing governance committees and present strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Advanced Analytics & Optimization Architect and oversee development of advanced pricing optimization models incorporating elasticity, behavioral segmentation, macroeconomic forecasting, and AI-driven decision frameworks. Design stress testing frameworks linking pricing to capital, liquidity, and credit loss volatility. Integrate underwriting scorecards, risk tiers, and loss forecasting into enterprise pricing algorithms. Oversee test-and-learn frameworks and ensure statistical rigor across all pricing pilots and experiments.
  • Portfolio Profitability & Capital Alignment Own risk-adjusted portfolio profitability strategy, ensuring alignment with cost of funds, capital allocation, and long-term enterprise returns. Advise CFO and CRO on pricing implications related to funding strategy, securitization, and balance sheet optimization. Provide executive-level forecasting and scenario planning across economic cycles.
  • Regulatory & Fair Lending Oversight Establish enterprise pricing controls ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including fair lending, usury, and disclosure requirements. Partner with Compliance and Legal to proactively assess regulatory changes and litigation risk exposure related to pricing practices. Oversee disparate impact monitoring and pricing fairness analytics.
  • Market & Competitive Strategy Direct competitive intelligence and macroeconomic monitoring to position pricing strategy for market share growth without sacrificing credit discipline. Lead geographic and channel pricing segmentation strategies across branch, digital, and omni-channel platforms.
  • Organizational Leadership Lead, develop, and mentor a team of pricing analysts and managers. Establish best practices, documentation standards, and model risk governance. Serve as enterprise thought leader in pricing innovation, automation, and AI enablement. Influence executive and board-level discussions on growth, risk appetite, and pricing strategy.
