About The Position

Principal – Platform Engineering needed by DIRECTV, LLC in El Segundo, CA [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to design, develop, and optimize data solutions within large-scale databases and big data ecosystems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement data architecture strategies, ensuring scalable and high-performance solutions that align with business objectives. Manage and optimize data pipelines, ETL workflows, and data integration processes across structured and unstructured datasets. Engage in complex enterprise-wide data projects by defining technical requirements, designing data models, implementing performance tuning strategies, and ensuring data quality and consistency. Develop and enforce best practices for database management, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization to enhance system efficiency and reliability. Utilize Hadoop, HDFS, and Amazon Web Services. Perform application architecture designs, reviews, consulting as needed for development team. Define processes and procedures to improve the productivity of the development team, help resolve problems and bottlenecks as they are identified. Meet with management at all levels to receive requirements, design technical approaches and develop solutions. Work on application and system configuration, reliability, recoverability, performance, and the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of big date application, systems, and related components.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation utilizing Hadoop, HDFS, and Amazon Web Services
