Lifecycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability. We are looking for a Principal Ordnance Assessment Engineer to join our OA team located in Tucson, AZ. As an Ordnance Assessment (OA) Engineer, you will lead and support the execution of testing and analysis efforts for a combined surveillance and shelf-life assessment program that assists our customers in inventory management decisions and provides a continuing assessment of the effects of operational environments on the product’s safety, quality, performance, reliability, and service life status.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with weapons inspections, hardware testing, and/or hardware integration.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with weapons loading in accordance with Military specifications and standards.
  • Experience with root cause or failure analysis.
  • Experience with statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience with project management, including developing and executing project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and performance standards.
  • Understanding of environmental effects on hardware and application of technical theories and concepts in relation to the operation of aging.
  • Ability to take an analytical approach and utilize technical knowledge to solve challenges

Responsibilities

  • Supporting and/or leading an OA engineering team consisting of varying levels of experience.
  • Performing missile-level accelerated aging (environmental exposure)
  • Executing missile and lower-level teardown inspections.
  • Developing energetic item accelerated aging and test plans.
  • Coordinating accelerated aging and testing of energetic and mechanical components at the manufacturer’s facilities or other designated test facilities.
  • Developing assessment reports and presenting results at customer reviews.
  • Review and approve the accuracy, quality and scope of the OA team’s work products.
