Receives, stores, transports, handles, tests, installs, inspects packages, and ships explosive ordnance items. Supports rocket launch operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) and Kennedy Space Center (KSC) including receiving rocket components and transporting rocket components to the launch site, assembling, and testing rocket components. Operates heavy equipment and vehicles. Operates cranes and forklifts including critical lifts of ordnance, critical flight hardware and explosives. Provide ordnance and weapons handling, loading/unloading of torpedoes to support the US Navy-NOTU. Operates lifts, pallet jacks, industrial shop equipment, portable generators, and chain saws. Plans and schedules ordnance and facility maintenance tasks. Ensures work areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Secures job sites and work areas, turns off equipment, locks doors or gates. Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated five (5) years of recorded/certified experience in handling and transportation of explosive materials and items. Satisfactory experience can consist of public/military sector explosive ordnance disposal, conventional and special weapons ordnance support, or commercial explosive device operations (explosive demolition, constriction blasting, or other comparable work history). Knowledge of magazines, grounding, lightning protection, meters demolition equipment and special handling equipment, explosives, pressure generating, ignition devices, and military and commercial solids materials. Familiarity with Title 49 Code of Federal Regulation, Explosive Safety Standards (DESR 09-AFMAN 91-201). Ability to perform or assist owners in installation and removal of flight explosive items (safe/arm, destruct, pyrotechnic devices, or other explosive materials). Must possess or could obtain a State of Florida Blasters Permit within one (1) year of hire. Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement required. Must currently possess or be obtained within one year of hire. Must attain certification to operate forklifts up to 44K overhead cranes/hoists within six (6) months of hire. Currently possess or ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to restricted areas. US Citizenship is required for a security clearance. This position requires the successful applicant to obtain and maintain the required security clearance or other authorization(s) within the necessary timeframe required by applicable contract(s). Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with DoD Contractor’s Safety Manuel for Ammunition and Explosives. DoD Manual 4145.26 preferred. Current Class A CDL with Hazmat Endorsement preferred. Work Environment: Office and field work Physical Demands: Must be able to climb ladders, towers, stairs and have the ability to lift 50 pounds from manlifts. Must have the ability to distinguish colors. Requires occasional overtime and extended shifts to meet demanding schedules.
