About The Position

Looking for an opportunity to work with a talented team and expand your experience in U.S. Navy weapons, ordnance and energetics? SSI needs to add a Project Management Specialist/Ordnance Manager, to support our current list of services provided for the U.S. Navy.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a TOP SECRET interim clearance within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain a final TOP SECRET clearance for duration of employment.
  • An associate’s degree in business and/or management or five years in ordnance and management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have detailed knowledge of the modes of military transportation, magazine inspections, magazine inventory, ammunition logistics management procedures, loading and unloading of conventional ordnance.
  • Of a minimum of 10 years’ experience, at least six (6) years of professional experience in weapons/ordnance handling management experience required.
  • U.S. Navy weapons inventory process experience required. (Minimum 5 years’ experience).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver's License with Hazard endorsement.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a certified DMV medical examination.
  • Must be able to read and interpret MILSPEC/MILSTD instructions, be familiar with MIL NAVSEA OP5.
  • Must be certified or be able to be certified as a QASO in the Qualification and Certification program per the OPNAVINST 8023.24 Series and NMCDETCLINST 8023.24A.
  • Must have completed or can complete AMMO-18, AMMO-49, AMMO 51, AMMO-62, and the Navy/Marine Corps Conventional Ammunition Sentencing Course.

Responsibilities

  • Manage specialized and general-purpose ordnance and inert munitions storage facilities
  • Supervise employees in the Ordnance Department to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
  • Supervise employees’ performance, evaluation and award recommendations.
  • Manage ordnance inventory.
  • Review budgets, staffing, and develop comprehensive annual and long-range plans.
  • Certify all commercial and military air shipments of ammunition and explosives for domestic and foreign travel.
  • Ensure the defense transportation and tracking system for constant satellite monitoring of Arms and Explosive materials from origin to destination is used.
  • Maintain a running log of all shipments and receipts of Arms and Explosives and inert materials received or shipped from the Weapons Department, Main Magazines.
  • Ensure all materials received or shipped have been verified and met all regulations governing the movement of Hazardous Material.
  • Ensure technical data to government ammunition technicians, to ensure proper input into military Ordnance Information System – Retail (OIS-R) Ammunition and Explosive tracking system is provided to AD&C.
