To find out more about AST please, click the link below: Applied Signal Technology: WHO WE ARE The Principal Networking Systems Engineer must have a technical background in computer network operations, systems integration, and/or software application integration. The ideal candidate will have a breadth of knowledge in the operation of information systems, including operating systems, virtualization, networking, and storage technologies. What You Will Do: This position will work as part of an engineering team to develop, deploy, and maintain an application specific data processing system being designed for the US Government The responsibilities for this position are dynamic and require a broad technical skillset

  • Design and implementation of desktop and server hardware and application systems
  • Software application installation/configuration and updating
  • System vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Hardware integration including rack installation and cabling
  • System design documentation and configuration management
  • Network component configuration and maintenance
  • Once deployed and operational, this position will provide Tier-II operations and maintenance support to maintain high availability, user satisfaction, remote maintenance, and address defect reports
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in infrastructure design, configuration, operations and maintenance of computing systems.
  • Proficiency in Windows domain design, deployment, and management.
  • Proficiency in network configuration, administration, operations and maintenance using Cisco networking applications.
  • Experience in the configuration and management of business applications including email, user desktop applications, database applications, telephony, etc.
  • Experience in cyber security to include practices/methodologies, associated technologies, application design, and/or experience in an operational environment to include NIST and/or ICD-503 guidelines, directives and security mandates.
  • Experience in imaging hardware, patch management, application upgrade, computer security and system monitoring and logging.
  • Experience providing Tier-II level operations support on computer systems to include desktop and server applications and hardware.
  • Understanding of the architecture, deployment, and operations of mobile communications systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn about evolving and unfamiliar technologies.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the proven ability to plan and prioritize tasking.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish professional rapport with others in a small team environment, adapt to change, and thrive in an atmosphere that requires trust, teamwork, initiative, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Active and transferable Top-Secret SCI ISSA (TS/SCI/ISSA) U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain a polygraph after start.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Skilled in Microsoft Windows configuration and administration including Active Directory, DNS, WSUS, and Group Policy Objects (GPO’s).
  • Experience with enterprise management and enforcement of security policies and protection software, such as McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO).
  • Experience with LINUX operating systems including system installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of virtual systems; provisioning and management of clusters, datastores and virtual machines.
  • Scripting experience in Ruby, Python, and/or PowerShell or related languages.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Nessus, Rapid7, and Open Vulnerability Assessment System (OpenVAS).
  • Experience in the installation and operations and maintenance of optical networking systems.
  • One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CCNA, MCSA, RHCA, Security+, VCP-DV, ITIL.
  • Existing Top-Secret SCI ISSA with polygraph within the last 24 months
