As a Principal Network Planning and Design Engineer, you'll design and develop high-performance connectivity solutions, including topology modeling, capacity planning, and protocol configurations (e.g., BGP, OSPF) for government networks to support high-bandwidth, low-latency requirements. You'll plan network expansions and upgrades, conducting site surveys, traffic analysis, and feasibility studies to integrate on-premises, cloud, and SD-WAN technologies seamlessly. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience in network planning and design, with hands-on expertise in high-performance connectivity solutions for government or large enterprise networks
  • Proven ability to develop scalable plans for hybrid environments, including routing/switching and security integrations
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be current and transferable)
  • Strong knowledge of federal network standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, DISA guidelines) and ITIL practices for service design and transition
  • Proficiency in network planning tools (e.g., Cisco Modeling Labs, NetSim) and performance modeling
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for technical collaboration in regulated settings
  • Applies extensive expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines, with the ability to exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification
  • Experience supporting DoD or large federal networks, including WAN planning and edge device integrations in distributed environments
  • ITIL 4 Foundation or higher certification, with emphasis on infrastructure management
  • Background in cloud networking (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute) and automation scripting (e.g., Python)
  • Master's degree in a relevant field or additional certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CISSP)
