About The Position

The products and services RTX provide to the United States Government are critical to our nation’s security. It is imperative that our programs can securely collaborate to provide services, develop new capabilities, and improve existing capabilities. We are looking for a network engineer who can support this vital mission. The RTX Classified Network Services team is an enterprise-level team that provides secure, robust, and collaborative networks to our programs in Raytheon, Collins Aerospace, and Pratt & Whitney. Our multiple nationwide networks offer secure data, voice, and video connecting RTX users with each other and government customers. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in LAN/WAN routing and switching, and firewall administration in a classified operating environment. This candidate will be a member of the RTX Classified Network Services team, with a primary work location in McKinney, TX. Candidates must have an Active Top Secret Clearance in order to be considered. Relocation support is available according to our company policy requirements.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum 8 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum 5 years experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • Cisco CCNP or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Proficiency in Cisco LAN/WAN routing and switching technology to include OSPF, BGP, DMVPN, and IPSec tunneling.
  • Proficiency in administration of Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto security appliances.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret Security Clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Familiarity with the rules and standards of operating a network in a SCIF environment.
  • Have a DoD 8570 – IAT Level III security certification (e.g CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP) or able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS cloud (network focus).
  • Experience managing a private crypto network using GEM One for TACLANEs.
  • Experience managing and automating a network with Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA).
  • Experience with automating network tasks with Ansible and/or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, and upgrade (software/firmware/hardware) LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and quickly resolving service impacting issues.
  • Drive and/or participate in projects in support of installation and/or improvement to voice, video, and network infrastructure.
  • Produce, update and generally improve technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
  • Review systems vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with recognized industry standards and best practices.
  • May require infrequent on-call and on-site support of networks after normal business hours including weekends.
  • May require infrequent travel to other sites within the United States.
