About The Position

This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position. The Principal Instructional Technologist is a technical staff member of the Information Technology Department providing support and oversight for all areas of academic technology on campus. As the subject matter expert in educational technology, this position is the lead architect of the university’s use of Instructional Technology tools. Under the direction of their manager, the Principal Instructional Technologist actively participates in long- range goal planning and objectives. Additionally, this position will be a significant contributor to identifying emerging academic technologies, their value to the university, and implementation planning. This is a lead Instructional Technology role and requires an individual with exemplary customer service skills and a comprehensive knowledge of the academic technology landscape. This role is the primary interface to the academic community as it relates to academic technology. This position requires significant project work with no supervision and a thorough understanding of project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent), in the field of Instructional Technology.
  • Seven years of experience in a higher education Instructional Technology environment required.
  • Competence in hardware/software selection, multimedia production, web authoring/design for PC, Mac , smartphone and tablet platforms.
  • Competence with various social media tools for educational purposes.
  • Thorough understanding of digital learning and instructional technologies including, Echo 360 lecture capture, TEAL, Composer, and AI classroom tools.

  • Experience with videography and digital video editing systems.
  • Ability to create and present training sessions for faculty and staff.

  • Able to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, strategize, and deliver projects.
  • Works with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to develop a technology integration plan, from concept to implementation while working closely with end users for all Instructional Technology systems.
