About The Position

The Principal Infrastructure Architect serves a critical role in the enterprise architecture group as a subject matter expert performing tasks that contribute to Sanford Health’s mission and vision. Provides leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required from the development of an enterprise infrastructure architecture. Partners with security architects and assists with designing the governance activities associated with ensuring enterprise infrastructure architecture compliance. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence, responsible for capturing the transformation opportunities available to the enterprise through adoption of new technology. Drive business capabilities and respond to information systems requirements at the same time. Develop the target technology architecture that enables the architecture vision, target business, data, and application building blocks to be delivered through technology and infrastructure components and services, in a way that addresses the statement of architecture work and stakeholder concerns. Act as a trusted advisor and work with stakeholders to define and create roadmaps. Responsible for defining a taxonomy of technology services and logical technology components. Identify locations where technology is deployed and carry out an abstracted physical inventory of deployed technology. Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as design of standard configurations. A hands-on-technologist experience in architecture and engineering modern infrastructure platform and services. Determine configuration of selected technology, impact sizing, costing, capacity planning, migration, and governance. Responsible for technology fit-for-purpose assessment and recommending iterative paths towards the adoption of strategic architecture goals. Define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and target state, typically in sync with IT budgeting or other capital planning processes. Proactively monitor strategic direction of vendors, technology, and market trends, and determine their potential impact and value to the enterprise. A practical understanding and deep work experience of a hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure environment, including but not limited to operating systems, servers, storage, networking, public cloud providers (AWS, Azure). Advanced knowledge on OSI (Linux / Windows), Web & Application Servers (Apache / IIS / Tomcat), Databases (MSSQL), Monitoring (Prometheus, Open Metrics), Cloud technologies, Networking, and Automation frameworks (Ansible, Puppet, SCCM, Terraform).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field required.
  • Expert level experience leveraging industry best practices in Configuration Management, Secure from the start automation-first of all infrastructure components, iterative delivery of strategic architecture design, deep understanding of operating systems web, middleware, and networking.
  • A practical understanding and deep work experience of a hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure environment, including but not limited to operating systems, servers, storage, networking, public cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
  • Advanced knowledge on OSI (Linux / Windows), Web & Application Servers (Apache / IIS / Tomcat), Databases (MSSQL), Monitoring (Prometheus, Open Metrics), Cloud technologies, Networking, and Automation frameworks (Ansible, Puppet, SCCM, Terraform).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, TOGAF, SCRUM, COBIT, CMMI is highly desired.
