About The Position

Fox Enterprise Technology is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and evolution of our AWS and Linux-based enterprise platforms. This role is responsible for defining cloud architecture standards, modernizing infrastructure services, and driving secure, scalable, and highly automated solutions across hybrid environments. This is a senior, architect-level position focused on strategy, reference architecture, governance, and technical leadership. While remaining technically hands-on, the primary emphasis is on architectural design, AWS platform engineering, Linux systems management and replatforming, and enterprise cloud modernization. The ideal candidate combines deep AWS expertise, strong Linux systems engineering experience, extensive expertise with virtualization technologies and a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure services that support critical Fox business initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, with significant focus on AWS and Linux systems.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization, Nutanix preferred. VMware sufficient.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server 20xx, Windows 10/11, and Microsoft enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with backup and recovery platforms (Veeam, Rubrik, NetBackup, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, segmentation, firewalling).
  • Experience with identity and authentication protocols (LDAP, SAML, OIDC, Okta).
  • Hands-on experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell preferred).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong documentation and architectural diagramming skills.
  • Experience operating in hybrid cloud or large multi-site enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Architecture (AWS-Focused), Infrastructure Engineering & Operations
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for Linux systems (RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, or similar distributions).
  • Define standards for Linux provisioning, hardening, patching, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Architect scalable Linux-based platforms supporting application, database, and middleware workloads.
  • Establish configuration management and automation frameworks for Linux environments (Ansible preferred).
  • Drive performance optimization, kernel tuning, and system reliability improvements.
  • Define and maintain enterprise AWS architecture standards, guardrails, and reference designs.
  • Architect multi-account AWS environments leveraging AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and landing zone best practices.
  • Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and cost-optimized solutions using core AWS services (EC2, VPC, EBS, S3, RDS, IAM, Route 53, ELB/ALB/NLB, Auto Scaling).
  • Lead workload migrations and modernization initiatives from on-premises platforms to AWS.
  • Architect hybrid connectivity solutions (Direct Connect, VPN, transit gateways) integrating on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Establish cloud governance models including tagging strategies, cost management, security baselines, and operational controls.
  • Install, administer and optimize Nutanix environments (Prism, AOS, CVM).
  • Migration of workloads from VMware to Nutanix or AWS EC2.
  • Experience implementing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or similar platforms.
  • Manage Infoblox DNS/DHCP services to ensure resiliency and performance.
  • Install, configure, patch, and support Windows and Linux server environments using tools such as SCCM/Tanium/Ansible.
  • Proactively monitor infrastructure health, performance, and capacity; remediate risks before business impact.
  • Troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues spanning compute, storage, identity, networking, and virtualization layers.
  • Administer Databases (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, AWS RDS)
  • Manage and maintain backup services using Veeam/Rubrik.
  • Manage and maintain storage platforms such as Isolon, Pure and StorNext.
  • AI-Enabled Engineering & Innovation
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar platforms) to accelerate architectural design, documentation, automation development, and operational analysis.
  • Establish responsible AI usage patterns aligned with cybersecurity and data governance requirements.
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging AI-enabled infrastructure platforms to improve engineering productivity and service delivery.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Implement and enforce infrastructure security best practices.
  • Partner with Cyber Security to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Perform regular patching, backup validation, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Embed security-by-design principles across AWS and Linux environments.
  • Architect IAM strategies, role-based access models, and least-privilege controls.
  • Define Linux hardening baselines aligned with CIS or enterprise standards.
  • Partner with Cyber Security to ensure compliance, vulnerability management, and audit readiness.
  • Architect centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, SIEM integrations).
  • Support identity federation and authentication systems (LDAP, SAML, OIDC, Okta).
  • Reliability, Observability & Operations Enablement
  • Design resilient, highly available architectures with clear RTO/RPO objectives.
  • Establish observability standards including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting frameworks.
  • Guide SRE and Infrastructure Operations teams in operationalizing architectural standards.
  • Lead incident reviews and drive systemic improvements.
  • Documentation & Governance
  • Maintain accurate architecture diagrams, SOPs, and configuration documentation.
  • Participate in change management processes and incident reviews.
  • Maintain hardware and asset inventory systems.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provide architectural leadership across Enterprise Technology, Cyber Security, Networking, Application Engineering, and DevOps teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technology leadership on cloud and infrastructure strategy.
  • Mentor engineers and promote architectural best practices across the organization.
  • Contribute to multi-year infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
