About The Position

The Principal Informatics Applications Analyst serves as the Health Informatics and Technology (HIT) division subject matter expert for clinical applications, leading incident management processes and providing guidance and training to less experienced analysts. The Principal Analyst manages complex projects and programs in assigned area of Laboratory and mentors others in the development of project management skills while also working with departmental leadership to strategize organizational initiatives and goals. The Principal Analyst will also maintain assigned clinical applications and will develop applications and technology strategies, while providing expert knowledge in change management and ITIL processes. The Principal Analyst is also a liaison to the care delivery team to develop, implement, and effectively use clinical technologies. Requirements

  • Master's Degree plus 7+ years of clinical experience in health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology. Project Management, Application portfolio management experience. Leadership Experience required.
  • OR
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 10+ years of clinical experience in health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology. Project Management, Application portfolio management experience. Leadership Experience required.
  • At least one application-specific Epic certification relevant to the department (determined by role leadership) required within 120 days of hire.
  • Must complete Epic certification training if not already Epic certified in the most recent version of the Epic EHR product.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems [CPHIMS (HIMSS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and Manages Complex IT and Enterprise level projects and provides expertise to implement new clinical applications and technologies.
  • Applies project management skills, tools, and lean methodologies.
  • Leads and manages the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs.
  • Mentors others in their development of project management skills, tools, and lean methodologies.
  • Strategizes with leadership to develop and prioritize projects to align with organizational initiatives and goals.
  • Develops innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.
  • Serves as technical subject matter expert for department and organizational committees and initiatives; plans, coordinates, and develops technologies to support clinical processes.
  • Responds to system issues and user requests for assistance.
  • Provides 24/7 support as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Initiate /Lead Incident Management processes to resolve issues/services as soon as possible.
  • Collaborates to provide training and communication about changes and fulfill optimization requests.
  • Provides guidance and training to the team, as well as to less experienced analysts.
  • Configure and optimize applications and technology to meet the specific requirements of clinical workflows.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology to ensure that clinical and operational systems meet security requirements.
  • Maintains application documentation, back-up procedures, and business continuance.
  • Test systems and technology to identify defects and develop mitigation plans.
  • Expert in change management and ITIL processes.
  • Understand and apply regulatory requirements and professional standards to the design, build, and optimization of clinical technologies.
  • Design, develop, and implement clinical documentation and decision support systems that improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborates with vendors to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops application and technology strategies.
  • Partners with vendors to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships.
