Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? Pratt & Whitney has invested in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new, 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry for the production of turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite. This state-of-the-art facility will also implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney’s facilities. The Foundry Manufacturing Engineering team within the Asheville site is seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Engineer, who will be involved in the following duties: The Principal Industrial Engineer is an active member in Foundry Operations Team to define and implement production plan to support an automated foundry

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or related Technical Field with 8+ years of experience in an aerospace or foundry manufacturing environment.
  • OR an Advanced Degree with 5 + Years of practical recent experience related to this role
  • Strong Project Engineering/Planning and Communication/Presentation skills are a must for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma green belt or equivalent
  • Experience with Factory 4.0 and connected factory implementation
  • Master’s’ degree in Engineering or related Technical Field
  • 15 or more years of experience in Industrial Engineering or Operations environment
  • Experience working with nickel alloys and single crystal casting process
  • Broad knowledge of the aerospace industry and experience in turbine engine parts manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Study product requirements and determine capital equipment and labor staffing to meet requirements.
  • Conduct machine capacity analysis and identify/manage improvement initiatives to baseline and increase efficiency (OEE).
  • Develop methods to increase productivity, maximize efficiency and manage human capital more effectively.
  • Recommend capital investment strategy to meet product delivery and cost targets.
  • Evaluate the effects of schedule and product design changes.
  • Participate in CORE events to layout equipment and workspace to baseline and improve production.
  • Develop and implement production flow simulation to be use in daily production decision making.
  • Working knowledge of product manufacturing / process technologies.
