About The Position

The Partner Engagement Platform (PEP) team builds the systems and services that enable global partners—OEMs, IHVs, ISVs, and device ecosystem collaborators—to engage securely and productively with Microsoft throughout the product development lifecycle. Our platform powers how partners access pre‑release builds, share diagnostics, collaborate with engineering teams, and participate in early validation programs. We are looking for an experienced Principal Group Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team—including Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Technical Program Managers, and a Product Manager—through the next phase of platform modernization. This role drives our AI strategy across reporting, partner workflow modernization, and engineering productivity and serves as the Security Champion for the WECE organization. Job Summary: This role leads the modernization of Microsoft’s Partner Reporting and Collaboration platforms, guiding a multidisciplinary engineering, data, TPM, and product team to build secure, scalable cloud services. You will shape and drive the team’s AI strategy—advancing AI‑powered reporting, improving partner workflows in Collaborate, and enabling engineers with modern AI toolsets. As the Security Champion for WECE, you’ll ensure our engineering practices meet the highest standards for security, reliability, and compliance. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years experience leading engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering distributed systems, cloud services, or large‑scale platforms.
  • Experience with partner‑facing systems or enterprise platforms.
  • Background in engineering security practices.
  • Familiarity with compliance, privacy, or governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Technical & Platform Leadership
  • Lead engineering strategy and execution for modernizing the partner engagement platform, including service architecture, API evolution, and long‑term scalability.
  • Oversee cloud‑based service development with emphasis on reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
  • Define platform vision, requirements, and multi‑year roadmap with Product and TPM.
  • Ensure secure global workflows for engagement, build distribution, telemetry, and diagnostics.
  • Drive engineering quality via observability, automation, and CI/CD.
  • Advance AI capabilities for reporting, operational insights, workflow improvements, and engineering toolchains.
  • People & Team Leadership
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team across SWE, Data Engineering, TPM, and Product.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and PMs through coaching and career support.
  • Drive inclusive hiring and build team capability aligned to platform and AI needs.
  • Foster a culture focused on impact, learning, and customer obsession.
  • Security Leadership (Security Champion for WECE)
  • Serve as Security Champion for the organization.
  • Champion secure‑by‑design practices including threat modeling and secure coding.
  • Ensure platform and workflows meet Microsoft security and compliance standards.

  • Collaborate across engineering, product, platform, data, and partner‑facing teams.
  • Represent the team in senior leader reviews with clarity on priorities, risks, and progress.
  • Partner with security, compliance, and governance groups.
  • Improve partner experience across Collaborate and Reporting workflows.
