About The Position

Principal Financial Analyst Capital One is looking for a Financial Analyst to join the Capital One Software Finance team. This associate will help influence financial performance across the Software business by analyzing current financial results to identify and address evolving business needs, evaluating trends, communicating expected outcomes, and leading the development of compelling new analytics. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with business leaders, guiding strategic direction toward sustained performance. The ideal candidate will proactively identify and execute ad hoc analyses to support business objectives, while also challenging existing processes for increased proactivity, effectiveness, and efficiency. An interest in understanding the complexities of the Software business is essential. Financial Analysts perform financial data analysis in preparing financial statements and frequently build reports for higher level associates; provide management and business clients with project statuses; perform reporting and analysis to support presentation and ad-hoc requests. You will be asked to challenge our current well-managed processes to be more proactive, effective, and efficient, and you will be encouraged to find new ways to tell stories, analyze trends, and diagnose results in a compelling and visual nature. The role requires strong communication, problem solving, strategic thinking and influencing skills: Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior audiences Foster trusted business relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination
  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) or military experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years experience in financial services, banking or technology industries
  • 3+ years experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis
  • Lead development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams
  • Accurately analyze & explain key cost drivers and monthly variances, suggest actions to the business, and help manage the regular reporting process
  • Proactively identify and lead new analysis that drives additional insights into business performance and opportunities
  • Partner with finance leaders and their teams, as well as other internal stakeholders
  • Provide management and business clients with project statuses
  • Work closely with the finance team to help identify areas and processes for driving efficiencies
  • React to ad-hoc requests and special projects
  • Manage, prioritize, and delegate tasks independently
