About The Position

Principal Financial Analyst (Shared Services) As Capital One grows the operations and servicing teams become increasingly important to drive scale, differentiated customer experience, and efficiencies. This role will support the Shared Services team, within the Customer Service and Strategy Organization, with a focus on operations and servicing strategy. Shared Services is a new organization and this role will have the opportunity to build financial reporting, forecasting, and modeling from the ground up. You will manage financial performance and provide Shared Services leadership with financial insights, directly influencing strategy, and driving business outcomes. The role requires problem solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively: Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights Able to critically evaluate broad option sets and present recommendations Effective under both open-ended and tight timelines Partner with leadership and business teams to assess the financial implications of ongoing efforts to grow the organization Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences Comfortable working in white space and the ability to get work done through others

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) or military experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years experience in financial services, banking or technology industries
  • 3+ years experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis
  • Lead development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams
  • Accurately analyze & explain key cost drivers and monthly variances, suggest actions to the business, and help manage the regular reporting process
  • Proactively identify and lead new analysis that drives additional insights into business performance and opportunities
  • Partner with finance leaders and their teams, as well as other internal stakeholders
  • Provide management and business clients with project statuses
  • Work closely with the finance team to help identify areas and processes for driving efficiencies
  • React to ad-hoc requests and special projects
