Overview Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Principal Engineer to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. Provide staff augmentation training support for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) of assigned instructional programs in accordance with approved Training Program Descriptions and Training Plans.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Candidate shall have good communication and presentation skills.
  • Candidate shall be skilled in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop/deliver technical classroom training is required.
  • Must be able to attend and qualify for Subject Matter Expert / Instructor Status on numerous training topics.
  • Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years’ experience. A MS with 8+ years’ experience. A BS with 10+ years’ experience or more.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in an applicable engineering discipline (e.g. electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, nuclear, chemical, computer science, computer related, etc.)
  • Familiarity with engineering manuals, procedures, standards and engineering programs at SRS is preferred.
  • Experience in area relative to course of instruction and teaching experience is preferred.
  • SRS experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems.
  • Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results.
  • Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
  • Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, to resolve complex problems.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles.
  • Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution.
  • Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
  • Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management.
  • Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.
  • Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies.
  • Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.
  • Provide staff augmentation training support for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) in the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) of assigned instructional programs in accordance with approved Training Program Descriptions and Training Plans.
  • General responsibilities include attending training to qualify for SME/instructor status on one or more courses, reviewing and providing input for course and exam improvements, grading course exams and providing feedback for students, providing instruction for specified engineering courses to engineers to include but not limited to: Conduct of Operations for Engineers Use of Engineering Standards SmartPlant Foundation (SPF)/E7 Nuclear Science & Criticality Controls Asset Suite Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow & Thermodynamics Process Instrumentation Process Controls Safety Basis/CHAP/Functional Classification/Emergency Management Mechanical Components, Drawings, & Documents
