Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has multiple openings for a Principal Engineer, Systems Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. Travel up to 3 times per year to Canada. What YOU will do Perform analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Manage configuration process, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Perform architectural exploration. Consider and evaluate alternatives accounting for similar metrics. Decompose customer specifications and system level requirements into sub- system and piece part requirements, and generate verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Requirements

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 8 years of progressive experience as a Systems Engineer or related role.
  • In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related role would be acceptable.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of aerospace experience developing, verifying, validating and certifying safety critical avionics features, products and systems following OEM requirements, regulatory agencies regulations, and industry standards such as DO178B/C, ARP4754, DO-160.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience investigating root causes of issues discovered during flight testing and in-service aircraft operations.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience managing scope, schedule, cost, and risk of moderate to large complex projects/programs.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience using engineering development tools like DOORS, Agile, JIRA, JAMA in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
