About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, 32-bit microprocessors, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed-signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). We also license Flash-IP solutions that are incorporated in a broad range of products. Microchip Technology Inc. has a Principal Engineer - Product Marketing role opening. The successful candidate will own the strategic and tactical marketing responsibilities for a portfolio of FPGA products. This role is critical in defining product roadmaps, driving go-to-market strategies, and ensuring revenue and margin growth. The candidate will work closely with engineering, sales, applications, and corporate marketing teams to position Microchip’s FPGA solutions competitively in the marketplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years in semiconductor product marketing or product management (FPGA experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record in defining product strategies, executing NPIs, and driving business development.
  • Strong technical understanding of FPGA architectures and applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a global, cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap Define and maintain product line strategy aligned with market trends and customer requirements. Develop business cases for new FPGA products, IP, solutions and features.
  • Go-to-Market Execution Create and implement marketing plans, including product positioning, messaging, and competitive differentiation. Drive new product introductions (NPIs), including pricing, forecasting, collateral development, and training.
  • Competitive Analysis & Positioning Conduct in-depth competitive analysis to understand market dynamics, competitor offerings, and pricing strategies. Develop clear product positioning and value propositions to differentiate Microchip FPGA solutions. Provide competitive intelligence to sales teams and create tools for objection handling.
  • Business Development Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets and strategic accounts. Collaborate with sales teams to develop account strategies and secure design wins. Build relationships with key customers, ecosystem partners, and industry influencers to expand Microchip’s FPGA footprint. Support negotiations for strategic partnerships and joint development initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with engineering to define specifications and prioritize features. Support worldwide field sales and applications teams with tools, training, and competitive analysis.
  • Market Intelligence Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to guide product decisions. Represent Microchip at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.
