About The Position

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at Robert Hill Lane Elementary towards academic success. Robert Hill Lane Elementary School is a single track, school-wide Title I school, serving approximately 230 students in grades TK through 6th Grade. The school population is 91% Hispanic/Latino, 3.4% White, and 5.6% other. Of the total school enrollment, 12.3% are English Learners, and 22% are Students with Disabilities. Lane ES has two Multiple Disabilities Orthopedic Special Day programs that serve students K-6. During the 2025-26 school year, the staff will be comprised of approximately 12 teachers, 1 APEIS, 1 TSP Adviser, and an itinerant RST Teacher. Lane ES is a school that strives to be the hub of the community it serves, and in partnership with Alma Family Services provides support and services to the Lane ES community. The school is located at 1500 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA 91754.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:will be an instructionally focused, progressive, and innovative leader who will: have in-depth knowledge and experience with diverse populations of students, particularly students with health and developmental needs; be collaborative with all stakeholders to foster a school community environment that promotes academic achievement, equity, and social-emotional wellness. They will demonstrate knowledge and practices of: Collaborative leadership, where parents, students, teachers, principals, and community partners build a culture of professional learning, collective trust, and shared responsibility using strategies such as site-based leadership teams and teacher learning communities; Integrated student supports, where mental and physical health services support student success, and all stakeholders adopt an asset-based approach and adhere to an ability first perspective; Active family and community engagement, where schools function as neighborhood hubs that bring families and school together, and there are educational opportunities for adults, and family members actively engage in schoolwide events and serve as equal partners in promoting student success; Expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities, where enrichment activities during and after school emphasize real-world learning and community building. Additionally, the ideal candidate will: have a firm belief that all students can achieve high academic standards; prioritize differentiated instruction for GATE students; have knowledge of research-based best instructional practices; have a well-developed understanding of the Teaching and Learning Framework; have the ability to provide meaningful effective feedback to teachers; have the ability to plan and facilitate professional development for large and small groups aligned to the Common Core State Standards; leverage effective oral and written communication skills to engage all stakeholders; have experience in managing school operations; have experience in managing school budgets; support the implementation of restorative justice strategies and the Leader in Me framework as part of a School Wide Positive Behavior support plan.

Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential
  • Multicultural coursework
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • District Master Plan requirements
  • For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.
