About The Position

UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL Serves as the chief executive who facilitates the educational program of the school; is responsible for the management of the plant and the promotion and enrichment of the staff, student and community relations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Interprets and implements the District-approved curriculum program in the light of individual school needs. Encourages continuing improvement and development of the program by individual staff members. Encourages effective use of curriculum materials, instructional materials, equipment, building facilities and school grounds. Uses supportive personnel in the improvement of the school program. Identifies, provides, assigns, and coordinates in-service opportunities for teaching personnel within the school. Fosters creative programs as a result of student and community needs and faculty strengths. Identifies, analyzes and attempts to resolve problems in the educational program and in the operation of the plant according to priority. Plans, supervises and directs the business operation of the school in accordance with District policies and procedures. Establishes an effective administrative organization with clear lines of responsibility and with necessary delegation of authority. Supervises and sees that all assigned personnel are evaluated in accordance with the District’s adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment, recommends appropriate action in cases of substandard performances, and identifies and encourages individual teachers with leadership potential. Serves as a District officer in communication between the central administration and teachers and classified employees in the schools, and interprets and implements District policies in the school. Strives to maintain a high level of staff morale. Assigns all students in such a way as to encourage their optimum growth. Makes periodic appraisals of pupil progress. Develops school plans and organization procedures for the health, safety, and discipline, and conduct of students as established in District procedures. Provides a friendly and accepting school atmosphere in which students can take pride in their work, play and achievements. Plans, coordinates and evaluates the total program of pupil services including guidance and counseling. Carries out a program of community relations and communication as a means of interpreting and furthering school programs through Home and School Clubs and other community organizations. Is a productive member of the District-wide administrative team. Performs such other professional and administrative duties as assigned. SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND/OR RECEIVED Directly responsible to the Superintendent and directly responsible for all certificated and classified personnel assigned to the school.
