About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Project Engineer (Sustaining Production/Field Support) to lead initiatives that enhance field reliability and overall program performance. In this role, you will guide a cross-functional team and oversee the full lifecycle of engine control system programs, from design and procurement through fabrication, assembly, testing, and final delivery. You will support ongoing production operations, address manufacturing and supply chain obsolescence issues, investigate field concerns, conduct root cause analyses, and drive cost reduction and reliability improvements to resolution. The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and hands-on problem solver, with a solid technical foundation and disciplined project management expertise. You thrive in fast-paced, high-visibility environments, confidently balance competing priorities, proactively manage risk, and engage stakeholders at all levels. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving program execution, improving operational performance, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet both business objectives and customer expectations.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Prior experience in project management capabilities, including stakeholder management, cost control, risk management, and schedule execution

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans to ensure all deliverable and quality standards are achieved
Estimate costs, resources, and timelines to meet program and business objectives
Perform cost forecasting, resource planning, and trend analysis to support program performance
Monitor and analyze project progress (cost, schedule, and technical performance) to ensure alignment with established objectives
Lead weekly project reviews to track status, resolve open issues, and drive task execution
Conduct critical path analysis and collaborate closely with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to manage workflow and priorities
Identify, assess, and escalate project risks as needed; develop and implement corrective actions
Lead root cause analysis efforts to resolve technical and programmatic challenges
Oversee Engineering Changes (Class 1 and Class 2) and ensure proper execution and documentation
Ensure compliance with internal processes and company guidelines; recommend process improvements to enhance scheduling, monitoring, and reporting efficiency
Effectively communicate project status, risks, and performance to engineering teams, management, and customers
Utilize MS Project to develop and manage detailed program schedules
