We are looking for a Principal DDI Solution Engineer with deep, hands-on experience operating DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) in large enterprise or service provider environments. This role brings the voice of the operator directly into engineering, ensuring our platforms are designed for real-world deployment, operational simplicity, and enterprise-scale reliability. The ideal candidate has firsthand experience running DDI infrastructure in complex environments and understands the operational realities of managing critical network services at scale. You will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, and Support to shape the evolution of Universal DDI, validate design decisions, and ensure our platform delivers exceptional operational outcomes for customers. As the platform evolves, this role will also help drive the next generation of DDIOps — intelligent, automated operations for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years operating DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure in enterprise, cloud, or service provider environments
  • Experience managing large-scale distributed DDI deployments
  • Experience with Microsoft DNS/DHCP/IPAM, open‑source BIND/Kea or other DDI deployments
  • Deep expertise in DNS architecture and operations
  • Strong understanding of DHCP infrastructure and IP address management workflows
  • Experience with network automation, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Ability to translate operational challenges into product improvements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams
  • Passion for improving customer experience, reliability, and operational simplicity

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-world operational insight into the design and development of Universal DDI services
  • Ensure product capabilities align with how enterprises deploy, automate, secure, and operate DDI infrastructure at scale
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews to validate operability, reliability, automation readiness, and scalability
  • Act as an internal “Customer Zero” for Universal DDI, validating operational workflows and deployment models before product release
  • Recreate real-world enterprise environments to test multi-site, hybrid cloud, and multi-realm DDI deployments
  • Validate automation workflows, API integrations, and operational tooling from the perspective of a real operator
  • Partner with engineering teams to define capabilities that enable AI-assisted and automated DDI operations (DDIOps)
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Architecture to shape roadmap priorities based on real operational needs
  • Work with Support and Field Engineering to incorporate lessons learned from real customer deployments
  • Define best practices for automation, observability, reliability, and lifecycle management of modern DDI environments
  • Validate failure scenarios, scaling behavior, and operational recovery processes

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health coverage, generous PTO, and flexible work options
  • Learning opportunities, career-mobility programs, and leadership workshops
  • Sixteen paid volunteer hours each year, global employee resource groups, and a “No Jerks” policy that keeps collaboration healthy
  • Modern offices with EV charging, healthy snacks (and the occasional cupcake), plus hackathons, game nights, and culture celebrations
  • Charitable Giving Program supported by Company Match
  • We practice pay transparency and reward performance. Offers reflect role location, internal equity, experience, skills, education, and certifications. Base salary for this position: $195K - $300K plus bonus.
