About The Position

Position Description: Implements and supports ﬁnancial database technology assets in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud environment. Builds database architecture and manages administration of Oracle database and replication technologies -- Golden Gate. Drives technology product lifecycle management and delivers cross dependency application database infrastructure initiatives. Triages complex technical problems to restore services and implement actions to prevent recurring incidents. Automates and streamlines manual processes, using Python and AWS technologies. Modiﬁes existing databases and database management systems or collaborates with programmers and analysts to make changes. Develops methods for integrating products so they work properly together-- customizing commercial databases to ﬁt speciﬁc needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in an IT solutions environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in an IT solutions environment.
Demonstrated Expertise (DE) designing, developing, and implementing mission critical database infrastructure solutions to ensure compliance with business continuity ratings and audit access policies, using Oracle RMAN database backup and recovery utilities, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Delphix Appliances, and Oracle disaster recovery Data Guard technologies.
DE providing production and non-production technical database support -- triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis -- in an integrated asset management trading environment, using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) tools; and mining and analyzing Oracle database level data and server log files -- core dumps, Golden Gate database replication, Linux OS alert, and Oracle trace files and alert logs.
DE performing installation, configuration, and supporting Microsoft SQLServer and Neo4j graph Database technologies; Database backup / recovery, performance tuning, database resiliency testing and creation and configuration of Database Migration Service (DMS) for cross site database replication.
DE assessing and testing database infrastructure changes -- service requests, automated incidents, and change management -- to evaluate business risk from a server, storage, network, and database perspective, using Service Now; assessing database capacity and performance management, using Oracle Automatic Workload repository and OEM; and ensuring infrastructure changes adhere to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and change management and security access procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

Provides 724 ﬁrst level database production support for enterprise critical applications.
Tests and implements new design features for general use.
Deﬁnes and evaluates database maintenance tools and build processes.
Establishes performance tuning criteria and methods in coordination with internal and external technical resources.
Provides technology strategic roadmap for technology lifecycle management.
Designs, evaluates, and executes highly complex database performance and functionality testing.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects.
Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques in order to minimize future incident occurrence.
Deﬁnes requirements and operational procedures to ensure network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network and applications.
Develops business cases to justify information security architecture initiatives.
Enforces storage management standards.
Deﬁnes the scope of change and impact to other interfaces.
Develops high level architecture design for the enterprise.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
