As we scale, we are investing heavily in modernizing our enterprise data ecosystem to support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making. The Opportunity We are seeking a Principal Data Architect to serve as the enterprise authority for data architecture, governance, and platform modernization . This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role where you will: Define the future of our Azure-based data platform Architect scalable solutions across clinical, financial, and operational data Act as a player-coach , mentoring engineers while driving complex implementations This is NOT a passive architecture role — we need someone who builds, leads, and executes. What You’ll Own Enterprise Data Strategy Define and execute the enterprise data architecture roadmap Build scalable data models across healthcare and business domains Align data architecture with growth, M&A, and multi-state expansion Platform Architecture (Azure + Databricks) Design and standardize lakehouse + warehouse architecture Establish patterns for ingestion, transformation, and data serving Optimize performance, scalability, and cost Technical Leadership Serve as the highest authority for data design decisions Guide Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Analytics teams Review and approve pipelines, models, and reporting frameworks Modernization & Optimization Eliminate technical debt and redundant systems Replace manual/reporting inefficiencies with automated solutions Implement CI/CD, version control, and documentation standards Data Governance & Compliance Establish enterprise data governance frameworks Ensure HIPAA-compliant architecture and data handling Improve data lineage, auditability, and trust What We’re Looking For Required 7+ years in Data Architecture / Data Engineering Strong hands-on experience with: Microsoft Azure data ecosystem Databricks / Spark Power BI (semantic models, governance) Deep expertise in: Data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake, Lakehouse) SQL, Python, PySpark Experience leading or influencing engineering teams Proven ability to align technical solutions to business strategy Preferred Healthcare or regulated industry experience (HIPAA) Experience supporting M&A or multi-entity data integration Azure tools: Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric Exposure to real-time data or ML pipelines Relevant certifications (Azure, Databricks) Work Environment Houston-based (local candidates strongly preferred) Onsite during onboarding → hybrid eligibility after 90 days but not guaranteed or employer paid travel due to onsite requirement Occasional travel as needed Work Authorization Requirement This position requires candidates to have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future .
