About The Position

The Principal Data Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, architecture, and implementation of the organization’s enterprise data platform, with a primary focus on building and scaling the Snowflake data warehouse environment. This role will lead the migration of legacy data environments, into a modern Snowflake architecture, while establishing scalable data models, governance standards, and integration patterns that support enterprise analytics and business intelligence. The Principal Data Architect will work cross-functionally with IT, Engineering, Data, Product, and Business Intelligence teams to consolidate and modernize the company’s data ecosystem. The initial focus will be building a scalable platform for our data first products. This spans workflows, sourcing, recruitment, payroll & compliance, integrations, reporting & analytics, and supply chain data. We are the system of record for a broad variety of talent platforms and this data warehouse will power analytics and self-service reporting across our platform. This role will also own consolidation strategy for Business Intelligence across all of Magnit Global. This role combines hands-on architecture, platform strategy, and cross-organizational influence to ensure the company’s data infrastructure supports current operational needs and future growth.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data platform design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, etc.
  • Extensive experience architecting modern lakehouses, particularly Snowflake.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data platform implementations, consolidations and migrations.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy data environments.
  • Experience enabling enterprise analytics using BI tools (such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Sigma and Power BI)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience is preferred with Snowflake, Metaplane, DBT Core, Fivetran, Kafka and Airflow

Responsibilities

  • Drive data platforms to modern cloud-based platforms, including moving existing PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle platforms into the public cloud.
  • Design and implement the enterprise data architecture strategy, centered on the Snowflake data platform.
  • Define scalable data modeling standards, warehouse structures, and data pipelines to support enterprise analytics.
  • Establish best practices for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access patterns.
  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of the Snowflake environment.
  • Build a modern cloud data warehouse architecture that supports high performance, scalability, low latency and cost efficiency.
  • Define Snowflake security, governance, and performance optimization frameworks.
  • Architect and lead the migration of data from the existing data platforms into Snowflake.
  • Develop and execute the data consolidation roadmap to unify disparate data sources.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and continuity throughout migration activities.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to support Magnit Gateway data architecture requirements.
  • Ensure the platform architecture supports Magnit Gateway’s operational and analytics needs while aligning with long-term enterprise data strategy.
  • Design data models and architecture optimized for BI and analytics platforms, including: o MicroStrategy o Tableau o Sigma o Power BI
  • Enable self-service analytics capabilities by ensuring reliable, well-structured data layers.
  • Enable cross-client and cross-sytem analytics
  • Move to AI powered self-service analytics & insights by using e.g. Snowflake Cortex Analyst
  • Establish data governance frameworks, metadata management, and documentation standards.
  • Define policies for data quality, lineage, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the principal authority on enterprise data architecture.
  • Lead AI based initiatives to improve internal Magnit Employees in addition to bringing new product capabilities to market
  • Provide architectural guidance to data engineers, analytic engineers, BI developers, and application teams.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and data platform capabilities.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Business stakeholders to align data platform capabilities with business priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture solutions.
  • Communicate architectural vision and technical strategies to both technical and executive audiences.
