Under general direction, performs executive work of a highly difficult and responsible nature in connection with cleaning, operating and maintaining of college buildings and their immediate grounds; performs related work. Is responsible for managing and coordinating the custodial work in and around a large higher educational facility or a major auxiliary campus of a college. Develops operating procedures. Estimates building, personnel and material requirements. Prepares budget estimates and reports. May adapt standards covering custodial services to his facility. May serve in a liaison capacity between the Administrative Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and the Supervising Custodial Foreman in a college which has a number of campuses. Assists in the preparation of contracts for services. Establishes policies and prepares required reports. Receives complaints and directs corrective action with respect to buildings and grounds maintenance. New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degree in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. City Tech's Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking to hire a Principal Custodial Supervisor to manage and coordinate the work of its hardworking and dedicated custodial team. If the selected candidate does not hold permanency in the Principal Custodial Supervisor title, this position will be in temporary status until civil service lists are established for the in-progress exam #2088. If the candidate is reachable on a list within 60-days of list establishment, the candidate's time spent as a temporary (due to exam) will be credited towards the 12-month probationary period. Reporting to the Chief Administrator of Buildings & Grounds, and in addition to the General Duties, the Principal Custodial Supervisor will: + Schedule over-time for special events. + Create and manage work orders. + Conduct staff evaluations and hold regular supervisor meetings. Coordinate with vendors. + Prepares schedules for special assignments. + Order supplies, and equipment. IMPORTANT NOTE : Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements. In addition, individuals who are in a permanent Principal Custodial Supervisor title or who have applied for Principal Custodial Supervisor exam #2088 are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
