About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled accountant to join a fast paced, high performing team. The position will serve as a technical accounting advisor for corporate and/or business unit management on complex financial transactions and reporting matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and producing robust documentation packages. The incumbent will partner with cross-functional teams on complex accounting transactions and enterprise-wide projects and liaise with internal and external auditors to support the company’s positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • CPA with active license
  • 6 or more years of public accounting experience with a Big Four or National firm

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in accounting
  • Experience in contract accounting, preferably including U.S. Government contracts
  • Big Four experience with audits of clients that are SEC registrants and/or U.S. Government contractors
  • Strong technical and financial acumen
  • Previous experience within the Aerospace & Defense industry
  • Previous experience with accounting for M&A transactions
  • Experience with percentage of completion accounting, including estimates at completion
  • Strong project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end and manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously
  • Leveraging technology to enhance data analytics
  • Experience with automation digital tools (Alteryx, Python, PowerPlatform)

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to leadership and business partners on the accounting implications of complex transactions
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos and other documentation to support accounting positions
  • Provide guidance on accurate interpretation and effective implementation of business control processes and policies
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting guidance and assess impacts to accounting policies
  • Clearly communicate accounting guidance and impacts at the appropriate level (e.g., staff and peers, various L3Harris teams including executive management, external auditors, external advisors)
  • Develop effective, collaborative relationships with segment and functional teams
  • Liaise with external auditors to support the company’s positions
  • Assist with financial reporting tasks as necessary
  • Support internal and external audit activities as required
  • Lead or assist in ad hoc projects such as M&A and other non-routine transactions, as necessary
