About The Position

The Principal Consultant is responsible for leading Professional Services' consulting teams during customer projects and oversees the day-to-day operations of a project until completion. The Principal Consultant is one of the primary contacts between WWT and the customer for any services project. In some cases, the Principal Consultant will lead several projects concurrently. A Principal Consultant must be capable of supervising and leading a project team, managing a complex project, and being a recognized expert by significant career experience in enterprise IT leadership or by demonstrating technical/professional services expertise in one or more WWT technology practices. The Principal Consultant leads customer-facing services projects of medium to large size or complexity. Principal Consultants often lead all aspects of these projects and the development of project deliverables (examples include white papers, plans, strategies, designs, assessments, and business case analyses). The Principal Consultant must be “Two in the Box” as part of WWTs approach to driving successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen years (15) of industry experience in enterprise IT management, technology consulting, advisory, or professional services.
  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or equivalent technical or business experience.
  • 5-7 years experience as a Senior or Lead Consultant or equivalent experience.

  • Post-graduate training in business-related discipline or management.

  • Advanced client-facing skills, including analyzing complex problems and influencing and negotiating with clients.
  • Demonstrated technical consulting experience in one or more vertical sectors: government, public sector, higher education, finance, health care, technology, or other commercial.

Responsibilities

  • Main contact between WWT and customer from beginning to end of a project, ensuring the team meets the customer's needs.

  • Responsible for the delivery of project work, ongoing quality of the work, ensuring standards and delivery methodologies are being followed and appropriate resources are available to meet the current and future demands of the project.
  • Participate with Sales during the sales process through Project Scoping Workshops (PSWs), presentations, solutions, and development of Scopes of Work.
  • Provide the bridge between Sales and Professional Services as new opportunities are closed.
  • Proven track record of customer focus, including the ability to foster long-term client relationships
  • Ability to successfully manage partner and vendor resources.
  • General understanding of financial forecasting, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Personnel management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Willing to travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Proactively detects technical deficiencies and develops practical, workable solutions to problems.
  • Takes full responsibility for the overall execution and delivery of critical tasks or projects.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and tools to provide best-practice insight and best-in-class recommendations to management.
  • Ensure that all components and their usage are consistent and compliant with all applicable regulatory, departmental, IT, and corporate standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage project risk, up/cross-selling, and oversight of team deliverables.
  • Contribute to the definition of industry best practice through subject matter expertise.
  • Support the organization as required, including project scoping, developing SOWs, and responding to RFIs, and RFPs.
  • Deliver within the scope of the SOW while meeting or exceeding profit targets.
  • Provide appropriate direction and feedback to team members.
  • Ensure that the team identifies, documents, and drives resolution for program issues.
  • Responsible for training and career development of Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants.
  • Mentoring and ensuring that the Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants are hitting target utilization and quality metrics in programs they oversee.
