Your day at NTT DATA The Principal Consultant – Secure Networking (Delivery-Focused) is a senior technical leader responsible for owning the successful delivery of complex, secure networking engagements across enterprise and regulated environments. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in networking technologies and the ability to lead delivery teams through design, implementation, migration, and optimization phases. The Principal Consultant is accountable for technical quality, delivery outcomes, and client satisfaction, while ensuring secure networking solutions integrate seamlessly across multiple technology towers including security, cloud, and data center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise networking with a strong consulting background
  • Proven experience leading complex network initiatives for large or regulated enterprises
  • Deep hands-on and architectural experience in: LAN/WAN and enterprise routing & switching SD-WAN and WAN transformation Network security and segmentation High availability, resiliency, and performance optimization
  • Strong understanding of how networking integrates with security, cloud, and data center towers
  • Ability to operate at both strategic (architecture, roadmap) and tactical (design, troubleshooting) levels
  • Experience working in multi-vendor, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong client-facing communication and executive presence
  • Ability to lead without direct authority across cross-functional teams
  • Proven mentoring and technical leadership capabilities
  • Deep vertical/domain/industry expertise coupled with deep networking consulting knowldedge and client engagement experience, demonstrating good experience in client needs assessment and change management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT industry environment and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of secure networking engagements from design through implementation and stabilization
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex networking and security challenges
  • Ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with contractual and architectural commitments
  • Lead cutovers, migrations, and transformations with minimal business disruption
  • Design, build, and optimize enterprise network solutions including: LAN/WAN and routing & switching SD-WAN deployments and WAN modernization Internet edge, branch, and campus networking Network segmentation and secure access architectures
  • Apply security-by-design principles including zero trust, defense-in-depth, and least privilege
  • Validate designs through hands-on configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Lead delivery across multiple technology towers, including: Networking & Connectivity Network Security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure remote access) Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity Data Center & Colocation
  • Coordinate with security, cloud, and data center teams to ensure integrated, end-to-end delivery
  • Manage technical dependencies, risks, and inter-tower handoffs
  • Enforce delivery standards, best practices, and design consistency
  • Review and approve detailed designs, configurations, and implementation plans
  • Ensure documentation, runbooks, and operational handover artifacts meet enterprise standards
  • Support operational readiness, knowledge transfer, and post-go-live stabilization
  • Serve as the primary technical delivery lead for client engagements
  • Communicate delivery status, risks, and mitigation plans to client stakeholders
  • Build credibility through hands-on expertise and consistent delivery excellence
  • Support delivery-related aspects of SOWs, estimates, and change requests
  • Support presales activities including solution shaping, RFP/RFI responses, and client presentations
  • Provide technical leadership on proposals, estimates, and solution positioning
  • Mentor and coach senior and mid-level consultants and engineers
  • Contribute to practice development, standards, and reusable assets
