The AWS Demand Planning team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to facilitate planning EC2 infrastructure. This role will require the candidate to work with internal customers to optimize their consumption of EC2 instances. Specifically, this individual will impact the overall Amazon CapEx plan by: working with the hundreds of AWS services & SDO teams to adopt different/new instances, creating new metrics to monitor the efficiency of team's use of EC2, and partnering with SDE teams in different orgs to decrease qualification times. This role works on a team of several other planners who divide the software teams into portfolios which allows the candidate to dive deep into the technical aspects of AWS products. The ideal candidate is one who has worked at the intersection of software engineering teams, finance, and supply chains; who can understand constraints from each group and work between worlds to create strategic plans to ensure EC2’s continued growth while optimizing for long-term efficiency. The AWS Demand Planning team is responsible for building forecasts/plans that drive almost all of the CapEx spend for AWS, and will directly impact the purchase of $billions of server components, data center power, and networking equipment. The team is primarily composed of TPMs but we are the primary customer of several SDE teams in EC2 and AWS Infrastructure who software to improve the planning process. AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
