This role is responsible for production support engineering, including testing methods, procedures, and problem-solving, device specification and yield issues, minor redesigns, customer return analysis, supplier-related engineering changes, and optimizing device production for cost. The individual assumes responsibility for devices and components after transfer into high-volume production, overseeing entire device manufacturing operations (excluding wafer fabrication). They may also assist customers with device usage problems or complex device testing. This is an individual contributor role within the technical functions, focused on advancing existing technology or introducing new technology and therapies. The role involves formulating, delivering, and managing assigned projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and potentially mentoring colleagues or directing lower-level professionals. A significant portion of time is dedicated to R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies, from design to implementation, while adhering to policies and utilizing specialized knowledge and skills. The position is for a recognized expert who manages large projects or processes with considerable autonomy and limited managerial oversight. They coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level specialists. The role contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy, with a significant impact on work group results, and may manage projects spanning outside the immediate job area. Problems are difficult, moderately complex, and undefined, requiring detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation. The individual develops solutions to moderately complex problems, makes moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products independently, and implements these solutions to enhance performance. They represent the organization as a primary contact for specific projects, communicating with internal and external customers and vendors, and may negotiate and influence decision-making. The role typically provides guidance, coaching, and training to other employees and manages major/moderately complex projects, often acting as a team leader.
