About The Position

Mercury Systems IPS Data Processing business unit is developing sophisticated mission-critical embedded technology to withstand the most rugged environments. We have a career opportunity for an electrical engineer to provide technical oversight and direction to the hardware design team. This role is a technical lead in the HW design group, where one can lead a world class hardware team, as well as still making individual technical contributions on the team. The candidate will be a strong technical leader, providing technical oversight and direction to the hardware design team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a world class electrical engineering team that involves in complete hardware development life cycle of new products to bring cutting-edge technology to mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. Your talent will be utilized to bridge commercial innovation with defense-grade security to ensure our warfighters and allies have the technological advantage. This role will play a key role as a hardware engineering team member developing and sustaining data storage and transfer systems for the Data Systems Product Line, while contributing directly to hardware development efforts on programs.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
  • Ideally 6+ years electrical/hardware engineering design experience
  • Experience using hardware engineering design tools, such as Cadence Concept, Cadence Capture, Allegro PCB Designer, SPICE, HyperLynx, Mentor Graphics Valydate
  • Expert knowledge in the use of digital test equipment such as spectrum analyzer and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with design documentation and interpreting customer requirements
  • Experience multi-tasking on multiple projects
  • Experience leading projects

  • An active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Experience with airborne electronic hardware certification process
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as FPGA, PCIe, SATA, I2C, ARINC 429, Ethernet
  • Experience with military test standards, such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-704
  • Experience with Video input and output processing
  • Experience in Power Design
  • Experience working on proposals and schedule/cost estimates
  • Experience with Intel CPU design
  • Working knowledge of VITA design standards (VITA 42, 46, 62, 65)

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering team to design, develop and verify complex circuits, modules or systems to meet requirements
  • Lead engineering efforts to support production to resolve manufacturing issues or field failure investigation
  • Create engineering design guidelines, work instructions and checklists for design consistency and process improvement to reduce future development cost
  • Lead efforts to improve design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA) and design for test (DFT)
  • Provide technical leadership for new and on-going projects
  • Act as technical liaison with Manufacturing, Operations and Program Management
  • Provide technical expertise and experience to assist Program Managers and Technical Project Managers to develop cost estimate and integrated master schedule to ensure they are clearly defined
