About The Position

The University of Colorado Sleep Center is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic leader in clinical and/or translational research to spearhead the expansion of research activity and innovation for the sleep program. Sleep-related investigations may include topics in sleep physiology, neurobiology, pharmacology, pathology, clinical diagnosis and management of sleep disorders, or health care delivery. The Director of Sleep Medicine Research will work collaboratively with University of Colorado faculty and Sleep Center staff to administer grant-funded research projects, and to develop and manage a research center infrastructure Serve as a mentor to faculty, trainees, and early career investigators in their pursuit of research activities, funding, and scholarly output Support and identify professional development activities for investigators and staff Help recruit faculty and trainees to further the academic mission of the sleep program Collaborate with leadership in the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program to strengthen the academic profile of the fellowship and to support investigational activities of incoming sleep fellows Curriculum development, evaluation of trainee performance, scholarly mentorship, and recruitment of future fellows

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent graduate level training in sleep-related health research
  • 2-4 years experience in health-related research with a robust record of independently led, grant funded research activity and research leadership experience (Assistant Professor)
  • 4+ years experience in health-related research with a robust record of independently led, grant funded research activity and research leadership experience (Associate Professor)
  • Current or past faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor (Associate Professor)
  • 7+ years experience in health-related research with a robust record of independently led, grant funded research activity and research leadership experience (Professor)
  • Current or past faculty appointment as Associate Professor or Professor (Professor)
  • Organized, motivated leader capable of balancing own research activities with the needs and efforts of faculty, trainees, and staff
  • Strong track record of conducting successful independent research
  • Research leadership experience, including managing budgets and developing research center infrastructure.

  • Previous experience interacting with learners in graduate medical education or other graduate level learners.
