About The Position

A. M. Castle & Co. has over 135 years of experience as a leader in the metals service center industry. This position is responsible for updating and maintaining accurate transactional base pricing, raw material surcharges (RMS), and loading contract price and inventory protect files. Together with the commercial organization and leadership, the Pricing Analyst helps to identify profit as well as process improvement opportunities. Compensation: $55 - $65k + incentive eligible

Requirements

  • High School or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least three (3) years of sales/marketing and/or pricing related field
  • Basis understanding of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sales, marketing, and procurement practices
  • PC literacy, with advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data mining to solve problems and make effective decisions
  • Must be able to function effectively in both independent and collaborative settings using interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated with strong commitment to customer satisfaction

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Oracle E-Business Suite applications
  • Proficient with formulas in Excel

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with leadership on implementation of price changes and pricing effectiveness.
  • Effectively uses WebADI spreadsheets to load/maintain market, RMS, and contract prices.
  • Maintains auditable records of all price, RMS, and contract changes.
  • Completes monthly updates to RMS files.
  • Publishes price and RMS change notifications to commercial organization and management.
  • Uploads contract changes as directed by Commercial organization.
  • Uses Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) tools to identify and track price trends and assist with analysis of market data.
  • Establish on-going management visibility of pricing activities and the ability to evaluate integrity of the pricing and discounting process.
  • Provides data-based, profit and/or process improvement suggestions.
  • Provides level 1 user support for / training on pricing related issues.
  • Provides clear, precise and accurate responses to pricing inquiries.
  • Continuously monitor, analyze and amend modifiers, pricing formulas and tables to ensure they are properly maintained for approved pricing changes.
  • Prepares Executive Summary monthly with a three-month trend on both transaction and contract for quote and order lines, conversion ratio, price and surcharge movement and weight by commodity and grade with top customer movement in each category.
  • Pricing Governance prepared utilizing BI, Power BI and Alteryx software for trends and recommendations to the executive team weekly.
