About The Position

The Preventativ e Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting regular inspections of the apartment communities Shelter Corporation serves as well as performing basic preventative maintenance tasks. In addition, this position is responsible for the following: Performing preventative maintenance inspections according to schedule, including but not limited to checking utility meters, confirming permit dates, determining if any safety equipment is needing to be replaced, and inspecting HVAC systems. Performing preventative maintenance work such as changing filters, securing loose handrails, etc. Gaining knowledge of what maintenance items are included in HUD inspections to ensure proactive management of maintenance needs Utilizing company software to put in work orders for higher-need maintenance items. Assisting the Legacy Maintenance Team with larger projects. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Ability to drive and maintain an appropriate driving record
  • Willingness to travel throughout the metro in a company provided vehicle
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and problem solving skills
  • Ability to self-direct as well as work effectively on a team
  • Willingness to obtain new skills in multiple maintenance areas
  • Ability to effectively use and learn technology platforms
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Basic experience in preventative maintenance preferred but not required
