About The Position

CU Boulder encourages applications for 2 Preventative Maintenance Shop Mechanics! These positions function as individual contributors within the Preventive Maintenance Shop performing inspections, minor repairs and preventive maintenance procedures on HVAC equipment, mechanical equipment and electrical rotating equipment. Requirements

Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience equal to two (2) years.
Must be a Colorado resident to apply.
Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and inspection procedures (PMs) on mechanical equipment. These PMs are specific to each individual component, including air compressors, air filters, chillers, cooling towers, condensers, cold rooms, coils, vacuum pumps, hydronic pumps, rotating equipment, furnaces, evaporative coolers and air conditioning units. This also includes seasonal startup/shut down of related equipment and minor repairs of all components and related attributes. Follow all safety protocols including all environmental hazards safety procedures, the use of personal protective equipment, the lock-out/tag out policy and the confined space policy.
Perform building surveys, compile information and documentation for mechanical systems; in both existing and newly acquired buildings on campus (may include reviewing prints and specifications for projects and performing inspections as needed). Examples include deferred maintenance audits, information gathering for the formulation of preventive maintenance checks or routes, survey information such as condensers or coils, or the restructuring of existing PMs to meet shop needs. May use Microsoft excel to organize information and store it on the shared server.
At the end of each day, close out all work orders and schedule work for the following day. When closing work orders, include closing comments and ensure repair work orders are created. Complete material issues requests and purchase requests to procure material needed to support work load. As an essential services employee, be responsible to respond to other duties as assigned. With all duties within this PDQ the employee is required to drive a University vehicle and to carry tools and materials. Notify supervisor or lead worker of safety incidents, near misses and potential hazards. Maintain safe work practices, participate in department safety meetings and complete assigned trainings.
