About The Position

Pressure Equipment Compliance Inspector (Trainee) Rockford, IL & Northern Illinois Region $70,000–$80,000 + Full Benefits + Company Vehicle Full‑Time • Permanent • Training Provided This role supports manufacturers, fabricators, and repair organizations throughout Rockford, Belvidere, Freeport, and the Northern Illinois industrial corridor. Rockford’s long history in machining, aerospace, hydraulics, and heavy manufacturing makes this a high‑impact inspection territory with steady demand and strong long‑term career security. You will perform field‑based inspections ensuring the quality, safety, and code compliance of boilers, pressure vessels, and pressure‑retaining equipment during fabrication, erection, and repair. Your work supports the earliest stages of the equipment lifecycle and is essential to Illinois’ manufacturing and industrial sectors. Requirements

  • Experience with high‑pressure boilers or pressure vessels
  • Experience operating, maintaining, or inspecting pressure equipment
  • Working knowledge of ASME and NBIC Codes
  • Strong communication skills and professional integrity
  • Ability to work independently in field environments

Nice To Haves

  • Navy Nuclear (MMN, EMN, ETN)
  • Welders with NDT/NDI experience (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT exposure)
  • Industrial maintenance or utilities technicians
  • Boiler operators or stationary engineers
  • QA/QC technicians in fabrication or heavy industry
  • Experience with pressure vessels, steam systems, or industrial mechanical equipment
  • Risk survey or inspection experience
  • National Board Commission (if already held)

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and accepting job packages and quality documentation
  • Performing in‑process inspections at fabrication shops and job sites
  • Monitoring contractor quality‑control systems
  • Witnessing hydrostatic and pressure tests
  • Reviewing and signing required code documentation
  • Communicating professionally with clients, welders, and contractors
  • Traveling throughout Northern Illinois using a company‑provided vehicle
