Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical related discipline or 10 years related automotive tooling/die engineering experience
  • 4-year Tooling apprenticeship and/or Journeyman certification
  • Must have an understanding in the following areas, die / die process and metal stamping process.
  • Must demonstrate experience in the planning and construction of medium and large sheet metal dies.
  • Must have a sophisticated understanding of automation, dies, equipment and metal technology as it relates to the automotive industry within a press shop.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Class A stamping and large sheet metal dies a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead die process, design reviews, and buy‑offs with die shops and CDT in line with agreed timelines
  • Maintain accurate, timely control of all die and panel documentation in the project server
  • Monitor die shop progress, communicate status to Module Leads, and escalate deviations per protocol
  • Plan, conduct, and drive actions from TTF reviews, die/panel buy‑offs, and customer pre‑series visits
  • Coordinate automation readiness, HLC activities, T1–T3 builds, and buy‑off requirements with tool shops and Drive Support productionization and commissioning of dies, including dimensional, thinning, surface, and homeline readiness
  • Remain accountable for all assigned tooling activities through final buy‑off by Press Production and OEM customer
