About The Position

The Press Secretary is primarily responsible for working with Governor’s Office staff and the Governor’s communications team in responding to press inquiries, developing overall communications strategy and acting as a spokesperson for the office with print and broadcast media This position is full-time but not a standard 8-5, M-F work week. Evening and weekend work will be required. Professional appearance and demeanor, attention to detail, self-directed, enjoys interacting with the public, a multitasker. Requirements

  • Seven years of executive-level policy development or foundational experience directly related to the position being recruited; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current membership in the Oregon State Bar
  • One year of legal experience, which may include experience working as a full-time judicial law clerk
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-directed
  • Enjoys interacting with the public
  • A multitasker
  • Discretion and mature judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Educational background in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or commensurate professional experience in the fields of journalism or communications
  • Experience in fields of education, health care, housing, and foster care
  • Ability to work in high volume, fast paced environments
  • Experience in graphic design, video editing, and photography
