About The Position

Temp The Metal Stamp Machine Set-Up Technician is responsible for preparing, setting up, adjusting, and maintaining metal stamping presses and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role ensures tooling is installed correctly, production runs meet specification, and machinery operates smoothly throughout shifts. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation Set up metal stamping presses (manual, mechanical, or hydraulic) according to work orders and engineering specifications. Install and align dies, punches, and tooling components. Perform test runs and adjust machine parameters to achieve required tolerances and part quality. Inspect first-piece samples to ensure compliance with specifications. Quality Control Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools. Monitor ongoing production to ensure continuous quality and consistency. Document quality checks, machine settings, and production notes. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform basic preventive maintenance on machines and dies, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs. Diagnose and resolve issues related to die alignment, feed systems, sensors, and coil setups. Communicate mechanical or tooling issues to maintenance or engineering when needed. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety rules regarding lockout/tagout, press operation, and handling of metal materials. Ensure press guards, sensors, and safety devices are functioning correctly. Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with company safety policies. Documentation & Reporting Complete setup sheets, production logs, and quality documentation accurately. Track material usage, scrap, and production output. Report equipment issues or production delays to supervisors.

Requirements

  • Experience in metal stamping, machine setup, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with progressive dies, transfer presses, or CNC coil feeders.
  • Knowledge of die maintenance and tooling adjustments.
  • Familiarity with ISO or quality management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
