About The Position

The Punch press operator configures and operates electric powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, or other materials used in the manufacturing operations. This role involves performing operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints, schematics, or other engineering drawings. The operator will also be responsible for handling raw material and feeding it through the press or die.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of production machinery and proper assembly procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast -paced environment.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy pieces of equipment, as well as stand for hours at a time.
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • At least 4 years experience working on a punch press or similar line

Responsibilities

  • Configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings
  • Recognizing condition of dies
  • Loading materials onto the equipment
  • Feeding material through die
  • Positioning and removing parts from the die
  • Keeping a record of operational data
  • Performing routine equipment maintenance
  • Operating punch press machines to cut, shape and form metal and other materials
  • Monitoring machine during operation to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments
  • Performing preventative maintenance of machines and equipment
  • Maintaining accurate records of production
  • Setting up and operating punch presses to cut, shape, or form metal or plastic parts
  • Adjusting machine settings to complete tasks accurately
  • Aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines
  • Loading programs and raw materials into machines
  • Inspecting finished parts for conformance to specifications
  • Any other duty as assigned
