We are pioneering innovation and paving a better tomorrow with factory automation solutions worldwide. The Press Brake Operator 3A sets-up, adjusts, and safely operates CNC press brakes. This role requires an understanding of punch beds and tool sets, the ability to safely use all required hand tools, and knowledge of the hand layout process to produce parts. The operator must read and interpret blueprints to determine the safest and most efficient way to perform the job and set up machinery to produce quality parts, making all necessary machine adjustments to guarantee parts are dimensionally within tolerance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-3+ years of previous experience or industrial experience
  • Knowledge of LEAN Principles
  • Intermediate print reading skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of metal alloy characteristics and formability
  • Forklift certification
  • Intermediate knowledge of die setups (top & bottom)
  • Intermediate knowledge of CNC press brake operations
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools
  • Proficient in the use of power rolls, bandsaw, and oxy-fuel torch
  • Ability to use an overhead crane and safely rig parts and weldments
  • Ability to create bending programs and edit files as needed
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Suites)
  • Ability to foster and work within a team environment
  • Actively participates in safety programs and complies with all Columbia safety policies
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Displays attention to detail and consistently follows Standard Work Instructions (when available) when completing tasks
  • Self-motivated and has the ability to work with supervision
  • Communicates well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and safely operate CNC press brakes to form metal parts
  • Read and interpret prints to determine safe and efficient methods for setup and operation
  • Create bending programs and edit files as needed to maintain production accuracy
  • Use hand layout processes and apply knowledge of punch beds, tool sets, and metal alloy formability to ensure quality parts
  • Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain dimensional tolerances within specified limits
  • Perform work according to production schedules to meet timelines
  • Rig and safely move parts and weldments as required
  • Follow company safety policies, procedures, and use required PPE
  • Other duties as assigned
