About The Position

Maryland Wellness is hiring a Prescriber at our Upper Marlboro location, just minutes from DC and easily accessible for professionals across the DMV. This is a strong opportunity for a clinician who wants to do meaningful behavioral health work in a collaborative, client-centered environment without the bureaucracy of a large hospital system. In this role, you'll conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to diagnose mental health conditions and develop individualized medication management plans. You'll guide clients through their treatment options, clearly explaining the benefits, risks, and potential side effects of medications so they can make informed decisions about their care. Collaboration is central to how we operate at Maryland Wellness. You'll work closely with each client's treatment team to ensure care is holistic and well-coordinated, and you'll connect clients to additional programs and community resources when appropriate. This position starts at 5 to 15 hours per week, making it a great fit for clinicians looking to expand their practice or take on a flexible supplemental role alongside existing commitments. Prescribers who are open to servicing additional Maryland Wellness office locations will be eligible for additional compensation. Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of current research and literature about psychiatric medications and effects of usage.
  • Must be able to strategically, logically and realistically analyze, evaluate and develop solutions for client’s medication needs.
  • Ability to deliver quality of care in line with the local, state, and federal government laws.
  • Ability to deliver quality of care in line with the policies and expectations of accreditation bodies such as CARF.
  • The ability to effectively build relationships with individuals of all ages, ethnicity, education, and work experience.
  • Respect for individual differences and multicultural diversity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and therapeutic skills.
  • Strong technology skills to input clinical documentation in EMR and administrative coordination.
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple clients and scheduling.
  • Maintains confidentiality and all regulations regarding HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with treatment guidelines.
  • Assess the client’s physical, mental, and emotional health and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Diagnose clients based on individual history, symptoms, and behaviors.
  • Advise on level of care, treatment goals, and other needed services (examples include writing referrals for other programs, making hospitalization submissions, and ordering for laboratory tests).
  • Educate clients regarding medications (and other behaviors), including risks, side-effects, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations for medication usage.
  • Provide psychiatric health services, education, counseling and emotional support to clients as needed.
  • Complete all documentation timely and accurately.
  • Communicate consistently with the client's treatment team in regards to scheduling, documentation, and client care.
  • Maintain scheduled client appointments based on agreed-upon schedule.
  • Assist with mental health emergencies as needed.
  • Be a positive representative of the organization by upholding standard messaging and its brand to clients, internal and external providers, referring partners, community affiliates, and any other external third party.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and trainings on-time as assigned; or make efforts to communicate any tardiness or absenteeism.
  • Deliver quality of care and documentation in line with the local, state, and federal government laws; the policies and expectations of accreditation bodies, including but not limited to, CARF and COMAR; and the clinical standards and expectations of the organization.
