About The Position

Provides evaluation and consultation services as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team established in Preschool Programs. Consults with school system staff, families, community members, private agencies, and others individually or through team meetings regarding cognitive, academic, social, and behavioral performance/needs of individuals and groups of students. Conducts relevant assessments, as needed, to provide additional data and understanding regarding a child’s developmental needs. Administers and provides written reports of comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to address areas of suspected disability, when required (review of records, interviews with stakeholders, observations of students, and direct testing.)

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the National Association of School Psychologists ’ Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services and the NC Professional School Psychology Standards
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps
  • Knowledge of state and federal policies and regulations related to special education
  • Knowledge of a variety of formal and informal student assessment measures when considering all areas of suspected disabilities
  • Knowledge of school environments, child development, and curriculum and instruction
  • Effective consultation skills
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
  • Ability to reflect on practice and engage in continuous improvement
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, mental health professionals, external agencies
  • Advanced sixth-year level degree in School Psychology
  • Experience in assessment of preschool children.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license in School Psychology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in evaluating characteristics of Autism and other Developmental Delays in young children (2 years-5 years old)
  • NC Traumatic Brain Injury Certification
  • Training in or Experience with Trans-disciplinary Play Based Assessment

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
